Check out this prestigious roof garden project

We enjoy participating in all our clients’ projects. But we’re particularly proud of our involvement in the roof garden on top of the new Standard Life building in central Edinburgh.

The details and dimensions

We supplied 250m² of our classic, cream Corona Porcelain (600 x 600 x 20mm) for Standard Life’s roof garden.

Renovating and extending a traditional building, we were involved from the design stage. The project had originally been specified for a 60mm textured surface sandstone paving. However, the architect approached us once the engineer had done his calculations and realised that the roof would be unable to hold its weight.

Weighing in at less than a third of the sandstone, we successfully proposed our 20mm Corona Porcelain as an alternative.

Stronger and more durable than the original material, the porcelain’s slight texture and patterned colour resemble sandstone, allowing the architect to continue with the look that they had envisaged from the outset.

Combine that with its slip resistance and consistent sizing, and the Corona Porcelain provided the perfect solution for the roof garden project.

To implementation and beyond

Installation of the porcelain pavers on the pedestal support system was both simple and straightforward. And the architect and client are delighted with the end result.
